To go head to head against Google Android and Apple iOS, and reclaim lost smartphone market share, RIM (Research in Motion) has unveiled their new Blackberry 10 smartphone today.

With this, RIM is putting a new top-tier smartphone OS on the market in addition to Android and iOS. This OS is based on QNX technology which is used in many mission critical hardware like cars, factory equipment and similar implementations. Also, RIM Playbook has been using the same OS, so basically RIM is using something they already tested and polished.

The new smartphone is easily controlled by gestures, and also separates Work and Personal life links, applications and content. The different sides (Work and Personal) will still keep running the apps you have left them to run, even if you flip to the other side. Whereas the work side has strong encryption and security. (One wonders why the personal side shouldnt have the same level of encryption and security).

Another fine point is that, BB 10 will come in two versions – one touchscreen, and one with a qwerty keyboard. RIM also is updating and providing various enhancements to its services and software, like video chat, updated BB Messenger, picture editors and filters and various apps.
